When visitors come to your website can they easily find your contact details?
I often come across websites where the contact information is just too hard to find. What happens in these circumstances? Well unless I’m desperate to contact them I’ll just leave and find someone else.
What actually prompted me to write this blog entry wasn’t so much having trouble finding the contact details on a website, but it is the use of the good old contact form.
I’m a huge fan of putting these on websites because you can guide and control the information that people give you when they make an enquiry. This can make it easier for you to quickly, easily and specifically answer their enquiry.
Recently though, on three difference occasions and on three different websites I’ve made contact with a company whose products or services I am interested in and had absolutely no reply what so ever!
There could be several reasons for this:
- Firstly, they may not be interested in my business – that perfectly fine but a response stating so would be great;
- Secondly, my request may be outside the realm of their products or services – again perfectly fine but a response stating so would be great;
- Thirdly, their contact form may not be working – this is bad…
If the case is that the contact form isn’t working just how many potential customers are trying to make contact with them to give them business that they don’t know about?
Does your website have a contact form? Have you recently received a request from a website visitor via your contact form? If so great – all is good, but if not you should right now go to your website and send yourself a test to make sure your form is working. Fingers crossed you get the test because you don’t want to be missing out on business because technology has failed you – and technology sometimes does fail, but generally it’s great!
